The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire (FMV) of the Université de Montréal is currently seeking qualified candidates for a clinician teacher position in Internal Medicine for the Small Animal Hospital. The FMV is located in the EducationDistrict of Saint-Hyacinthe. The selected candidate will work within the Centre hospitalier universitaire vétérinaire(CHUV) in collaboration with several specialists (example: anesthesiology, medical imaging, pathologist, etc.), committed to providing the best veterinary care. This selected person will work within a team comprising 1 clinician teacher, 1 professor, and 4 residents. The Internal Medicine Service plays a central role in the teaching hospital. The service receives referral cases primarily from the greater Montreal area.
Our internationally renowned blood bank actively supports the care of critical patients while serving as a valuable resource for both training and clinical research. Within the hospital, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, promoting an integrated and personalized approach to complex cases. You will have access to an advanced medical imaging platform, including digital radiography, fluoroscopy, specialized ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and a recently upgraded magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system offering unmatched image quality. The hospital is also equipped with a fully functional endoscopy suite (gastrointestinal, urinary, respiratory, argon laser, snare cauterizer, etc.), enabling a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Requirements
As a Clinician Teacher, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine:
Through your clinical teaching (up to 90% of your duties) as well as through activities related to the visibility of your discipline, research activities and institutional service (for a minimum of 10% of your duties). In this role, you will be expected to:
Participate in clinical teaching of students, notably by providing care and services that meet the different needs of the clientele;
Supervise veterinary students, interns, and residents;
Assess student learning;
Provide educational advice and assistance to students;
Participate in evening and weekend on-call duties as established by the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (CHUV).
To be successful in the role, you must have:
Hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree;
Completed a residency program in internal medicine;
Hold a diploma from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Companion Animals (ECVIM-CA) or be in the process of obtaining it;
Have a strong interest in academic clinical teaching in internal medicine;
An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or be committed to learning it once hired in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy.
