University of Waterloo, School of Public Health Sciences

Company Overview

The School of Public Health and Health Systems is the University of Waterloo’s newest academic unit and represents a bold and exciting step for the university. We seek a colleague committed to making a difference in the field of public health and health systems and who enjoys working and interacting with a vibrant, multi-disciplinary team. We have started a six year strategic period of growth, innovation, and transformation that will add seven more faculty positions to our existing complement of 27 professors. We seek a colleague who shares our emphasis on “systems thinking”, experiential and problem-based learning, close links to policy makers and program providers, and research geared to finding solutions to significant health issues. Over 275 graduate students and 450 undergraduates are enrolled in a BSc in health studies, an MSc in population health, an on-line MPH, and PhDs in population health; aging, health and well-being; and work and health. Students will begin enrolling in a new, innovative distance-based Masters of Health Informatics program with a specialization in public health and health systems beginning September, 2013. This program will provide health professionals with advanced training in health informatics. We are also seeking approval to add new degree programs in health evaluation, health promotion, and public health.
