Council on Social Work Education

Company Overview

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is a nonprofit national association representing more than 2,500 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. Founded in 1952, this partnership of educational and professional institutions, social welfare agencies, and private citizens is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in this country.

The CSWE National Center for Gerontological Social Work Education (Gero-Ed Center, www.gero-edcenter.org) is the premier national aging-focused social work center with the capacity to prepare gerontologically-competent social work students, practitioners, and faculty. The Gero-Ed Center's mission is to advance and sustain visible, strategic, and national social work leadership that bridges practice and education in order to prepare social work students and practitioners with geriatric competencies essential to evidence-based care delivery models with older adults and their families.

Since 2004, the Gero-Ed Center has directly trained over 1,000 faculty and educated over 13,000 students. The Center works to ensure social workers become leaders in addressing the social components vital to the well-being of older adults and family caregivers. Given the rapidly changing practice context, due in large part to the Affordable Care Act, social workers must be competent to practice in innovative, interdisciplinary, cost-effective, and high-quality care settings.

CSWE is a 501(c)3 organization with more than 30 staff and is located across from the King Street metro in Alexandria, VA. We offer an excellent work environment, and an attractive benefits package. CSWE is an EOE/AA Employer. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.
