Description

The Aging, Disability, and Long-Term Care program within RTI International has two openings for Master's Level Public Health Analysts to coordinate and assist in analyses of government health policies and programs, particularly Medicare and Medicaid. As a Public Health Analyst, you will function as an integral part of a team providing analytic and project coordination support to senior staff while developing an in-depth understanding of critical health policy issues and methods. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, data analysis experience, and the ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary teams.

This position will be located in Waltham, MA, Research Triangle Park, NC, or Washington DC.

Working independently with the supervision of senior research staff you will work on the following tasks:

- Researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis

- Collecting data and information

- Analyzing quantitative or qualitative data

- Developing specifications for computer analysis of large data sets

- Writing proposals

- Conducting site visits, interviews, and other data collection activities

- Consulting with senior researchers and experts on your team

- Communicating with grantees, community partners, researchers, consultants and state and federal project officers

- Coordinating project activities involving a variety of different stakeholders

- Developing analytic reports and contributing to manuscripts for submission to professional journals

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Gerontology, Public Health, Health Policy, Economics or related field and at least one year of experience (Spring/Summer 2019 graduates with relevant experience will be considered)
  • Strong quantitative research experience or coursework (experience in quantitative methods, statistics, mathematics,data analysis), or strong qualitative analysis skills with some experience or knowledge of qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti)
  • Experience using R, SAS, or STATA
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting health services research, especially related to aging, disability and long-term care
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of health care policy and institutions
  • Data analysis experience with Medicare or Medicaid administrative or claims data
